ADAPTATION TO HEARING AIDS

It takes time and patience to get used to new sounds and adapt to a hearing aid. Try to wear a hearing aid as often as possible to take full advantage of it. Every day for one or two first weeks, increase the time you wear the device.
What problems can you face?
Sensation of "clogged" ears (occlusion)
When you first use a hearing aid, sometimes you get the feeling that you have ears. This effect is called "occlusion".
Some users initially complain that they have "like earplugs in their ears."
To remove this effect in individual ear inserts or in the device itself, if it is intra-ear, ventilation must be done. This will allow natural sounds to pass into the ear and better adapt to the wearing of the hearing aid.
When using devices of open prosthetics, the complete absence of the effect of occlusion is possible.
Your own voice sounds different.
When you start wearing a hearing aid, your own voice will seem louder than usual. Continue to wear the device, and over time you will get used to the changed sound of the voice.
Whistle is heard in hearing aids (feedback)
Sometimes there is a sharp whistle in the hearing aid, which is called "feedback".
It may appear, for example, when fixing a device in the ear, when putting clothes on over your head, when you are hugging someone, or even just holding your hand to your ear.
Unitron's hearing instruments use feedback suppression technology. This allows you to significantly reduce the whistle and the associated discomfort.
